The short version
Every cookie on this site is our own. We use no advertising, social media or third-party analytics cookies, and nothing we measure is sold or shared. Analytics cookies are set only if you choose “Accept all”, and you can change your mind at any time.
Essential (always on)
amcoCookieChoice (browser storage, kept until you clear it) remembers your answer to the cookie notice. amcoEmailCta (browser storage) remembers whether you closed or used the email sign-up bar, and amco_email_registered (cookie, 2 years) stops the bar reappearing once you have signed up. The site also remembers whether you chose the residential or commercial side. None of these contain personal information.
While a tab is open, amco_attr (session storage, deleted when the tab closes) keeps the page you landed on, how you found the site and the pages you viewed, so that if you send us a request we know how you found us. It is only ever sent with a form you submit.
Analytics (only with “Accept all”)
amco_vid (first-party cookie, 13 months) holds a random visitor number, the day of your first visit and how many visits you have made. amco_sid (first-party cookie, ends after 30 minutes without activity) holds a random visit number and how many pages you have viewed in this visit. They let us count unique and returning visitors, how long visits last, how many pages people view and how many visits it takes before someone gets in touch. They contain no name, email or IP address, are stored on our server only in a scrambled (hashed) form, and visit records are deleted after 90 days.
What the site measures
Unless you choose “Essential only”, the site reports anonymous, aggregated measurements back to our own server when you leave a page: the page and how you arrived (search, social, direct), time on the page, how far you scrolled, which sections came into view, what you clicked and roughly where on the page (never what you type), whether a form was started or sent, page speed, script errors, and your browser type, screen size and connection type. These are stored as daily totals. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control turn all of this off.
Managing cookies
Use “Change cookie settings” above, or clear stored site data in your browser settings at any time. Choosing “Essential only” deletes the analytics cookies. The site works fully either way.
